Famed Killer Whale Luna Dies

The famous and well known Black and White Orca named Luna died yesterday along the coast of Gold River.

The accident took place yesterday when Luna got too close to a massive tug boat and was sucked into the two meter tug boat propeller. The tug boat was seeking shelter off Bligh Island from the violent waters from yesterday's snow storm which covered most of BC yesterday.

Luna surfaced in 2001 at the docks along the Gold River. The Nootka Sound area is where Luna was spotted, which will be where they will be verifying the DNA was in fact that of Luna.

The first nations wanted to keep him there because they believed Luna needed to be reunited with the Ocra pod. The first nations will have a cleansing ceremony on Monday as a result of Luna's death.
