Those Spring Flowers

While most of Europe has had crazy weather lately, we've had 2 days of welcomed sunshine here in Vancouver. I went into my archives and found a beautiful photo from 2 years ago along the Rhine River in France just outside of Basel, Switzerland. This photo was taken on April 2, 2004 on a sunny and much different day. The village is actually called Huningue and is located on a vast trail surrounded by a kayak park and 3 large playgrounds for the kids. I still was wearing a sweatshirt but at least the flowers were saying it's spring time.


It just occured to me that I probably also started riding my bike again during this week as the sun was telling me to enjoy the weather and get out and exercise. "If you can't enjoy it, at least dream about it!" And I've only got a few more days until my photo class!

Let The Sun Shine

I totally spoke too soon yesterday because as soon as I walked out the door, the sun started shining. By the time I had taken the seabus and gone down town, the air was fresh and the sun was making me warm enough that a sweater was enough to be worn walking down the street. Since I arrived in Yaletown early for my appointment, I went to the water and took a few quick snaps with my tiny camera.


I'm not all too pleased with the pics but you get the point of beauty of the sun and water.


I loved all of the cherry blossoms coming out. This definitely is more of the look I've been waiting for lately. And the Yaletown shadows of the clouds on the water are heaven to me.

All Green

Montreux all green.

One of the best things while living in Montreux was being able to see the trees, leaves and flowers bloom into existence. April was the month where the green came out on the mountains and the lake was all so glassy and smooth. I loved walking less than five minutes away to the huge vineyards that start coming to life, yellow flowers glowing before leaves are formed.


Yet within weeks, the weather was all so delightful. There's something about being able to walk down on the quai seeing all of the new flowers which were planted. For me this is pure beauty. And although sometimes the photos weren't all too great, I'm sure I was able to get my point across.

In other news, I'm trekking down town in the rain today to visit the dentist. I'm not all too excited about that, but the journey will be fun.

Patiently Waiting

I'm literally counting down the days till our street looks like this. And since Curling has finally ended (last night was the last game), P can do stuff on Sunday evenings with me again. I hope to get in a few hikes in the near future. Oh what a difference a few hours makes.

The Easy Drinker

This weekend we tried a new wine called the Easy Drinker. Every time I look at the bottle I seem to laugh because the name and the look of the bottle is just all too funny for me.

My first impressions before reading the bottle further, were that it's some type of cheap wine that you might find in the supermarket next to those all so good but cheap ciders. Well at least that is what I would do while I was shopping at Geant in St. Louis, France.

But really any wine in Canada is pricey on any standard. I would imagine in France this wine will sell for about 500% less than it does here in Canada. I still scratch my head daily on the cost of wines here and why people don't fight to have cheaper wines, all because of enormous tax profits.

After reading the label and doing a bit more research, I figured out the wine was actually from the area known as Cotes de Gascogne. The Vins de cotes de Gascogne are actually located in the South Western part of France half way from the Altantic and the Mediterranean but near Spains border. With their colorful bottles and amazingly light hearted website, I'm curious to know if the area is just as happy as their bottle appears to be.

And in case you were wondering if it was an easy drinker. It definitely went down easily and was an easy drink of white wine.
