Obwalden now has the distinction of claiming itself as a tax haven. In 2005 Obwalden was the highest tax paying canton in Switzerland. Now in 2006 Obwalden will become the lowest tax haven in Switzerland and quite the change. One of the reasons for lowering its tax rate might have been because it was considered as one of Switzerland's poorest, with very little growth in the modern age.
