Happy New Year

Bringing you the View out the Window while Skiing in California for Christmas..

Wishing you a fantastic year to come!

You Had a Fantastic Year!

Compared to most years, last year was definitely great.

Overall, you're living a much better life than you were twelve months ago.

And nothing is a better mark of a good year.

Here's to hoping next year is even better!

How Did Your Year Rate?

I'm very curious to know if any of you will view fireworks?
And memorable photos of past/present years.

Photohunt - Messy

This weeks Theme is Messy

Since I have been away from my computer, I've found one of my older favorite photos for this hunt.

We got very Messy walking through the mud next to this water trough.

Sporadic Blogging

I'm in desperate need of a break from the computer. Add that I've had the flu all week despite working every day, and that will add up to a much needed vacation by weeks end. We leave for a plane flight soon. I hope to come back with a few new cool photos from the trip. I'm sure I will pop in for both Photo Hunts and a bit of lurking while I am away.

In other news:

I passed my Swiss Geography quiz today as P was doing his crossword puzzle. I was able to tell him which 4 letter Swiss River was on his puzzle. The Aare River of Course.

It's snowed a lot this week here in Vancouver mountains but of course we are back to the normal gray skies and lots of rain.

I'll at least take a break from reading my normal blogs. Wishing all great holidays. Take lots of photos for me please, so I can enjoy Europe and all of your adventures.

I'll leave you with a few of my Christmas wishes. And yours???

Seeing Some Great European Photos From Your Travels and Celebrations.
To take a few great photos.
And to de-stress!

** We made it safely to San Francisco for all of you curious people wondering. It's clear skies and a dream come true. We left with about 6 inches of snow on the ground yesterday morning and now it's warmer and all so clear. I'll pop in when I feel like it, but hope to show off some blue skies soon! **

Evening Light

This weeks Theme is Light

I love these colors of light.
I can stare for hours at a scene like this and be in awe.
This is what it looked like from City Hall in North Vancouver on my way home.

Tonights View in North Vancouver

I could stay all night with colors like that.

We are headed on a plane for some r&r.
I'll drop in before leaving and from time to time.

Faking It

Check out the controversial photos from Swiss info which span tabloids around the world. And find out how they manipulate photos to make you read them! It can be seen at an exhibition in Bern's Museum of Communication running until July 6, 2008 features more than 300 photos that have been tampered with – and why.

Changing colors for not so real ones... Check it out.

Photo Hunt - Small

This weeks Theme is Small

I've chosen Something Small (looking).

It's been a stressful week for me. I picked photos from the last week that seemed be something small when looking through my camera lens.

The False Creek Cranes look so small! Decorated with lots of Christmas lights.
As they work about and change the landscape of Vancouver.

It's hard to imagine how small the buildings look in Vancouver from far away.

Our 2nd Anniversary Weekend

Two years ago, my parents and brother made their way to Vancouver for their first visit to Canada. The lovely occasion was for our wedding, on Dec 10th. I was still living an hr away from P at the time. If you'd like to see all of the wonderful wedding photos, check out my wedding post here.

Since our actual anniversary falls on this Monday, we decided to sort of celebrate it 2 days earlier. I'm a very practical person so I wanted to get P a gift. I was first hunting high and low for something that was sitting right under my nose. A few of these 2nd anniversary gifts really cracked me up though!

Here are a few of my favorites using Cotton.

If we only had a tree to hang up a hammock.

Cute Cotton Rose and Bear.

But I much prefer being outdoors, photographing and being free. This is how the evening started. We went down to Lonsdale Quay to watch the sunset, but it was freezing so we headed indoors quite quickly.

One of the beautiful shots before darkness and off to enjoy a wonderful dinner. I must say that Vancouver does have great sunsets if you are lucky enough to catch them.

Photo Hunt - Long

This weeks Theme is Long

Long can be used with some many photos. My creativity isn't so high this week but this is what I came up with for you.

Long Line of Lights, even decorations of Christmas Lights from my morning walk.

Long sunsets produce incredible colors during my evening walk.

Flashback Photo 1999

My brother and I with Long hair on a walk in Seattle, long before I had a digital camera.

Happy Hunting - A busy weekend, but I'll do my best to pop in to your sites.

Wild Weather

Here in Vancouver, our weather has been odd. We had 2 days of snow followed by 100 plus mm of rain in one day. There's been flooding and lots of heaters to dry me and my wet clothing off. We are supposed to have a break in the storm now. Yeah!

- Everyone on the East coast is getting a break where they had lots of snow and many plane cancellations..

All is well as I hopefully bring my camera as I was scolded yesterday for missing a full rainbow.

Back to boiling water as I think there are murky waters around.. fun stuff!

Catching The Snow

It's sort of like catching a cold, but instead Vancouver Mainland caught Snow on Saturday. Reports all say rain today and the pineapple express tomorrow. Try 12 degrees and more rain.

I didn't get that many great shots because it was dark out and I didn't have a tripod with me, but here are a few snaps on our walk. As I recall last year, we had snow a few days earlier than this at our place, followed by blue skies.
Lots of snow around Lonsdale, North Vancouver.

Before the sun went down, the bus zooms by too.

A bit more snow everywhere.

Look I found Rudolph too.

News Flash

It's December 1st today. Canada is supposed to have a VERY cold winter everywhere thanks to La Nina. The talk is that Winter is already here even though it's 21 days away as a result of this weather.

In case you didn't realize, there are only 25 days until Christmas and 10 days until our 2nd wedding anniversary.

Now back to normal programming below for Photohunters.

I'm away enjoying an all day exam class.
