Lucern

Lucern

I took this photo last August when we spent a few hours in Lucern checking out the Lion exhibit and old town. It's always fun to go to Lucern for a few hours but I swear there is so much walking in this city that nobody can avoid. Biking is probably the best method of getting closer to everything.

One visit, I went out on one of those paddle boats. We didn't want to go out too far. It was a great way to get further out into the lake for a bit. But actually the best way is to take the Lucern Boat to Vitznau and beyond to places like Brunnen. But that lake is just too cold for me, but views of the Rigi are incredible. (That's if you don't get caught in the summer rain storms.)

Specialized has a funny tv commercial which shoots scenes in the Alps of Switzerland. They are really funny actually which is probably their goal. The theme is yodeling. Has anyone else seen these commercials?

Happy July 4th

Yesterday on flickr, Leggnet posted this incredible image and thought it was appropriate for the day. I guess you need to have steady hands to do something like this.

I hope everyone enjoys the day off. I actually got yesterday off because July 1st in Canada fell on a Saturday. It was nice but I didn't really take off from working. The good news is that we leave this weekend for vacation. And I won't have internet access!

For those of you who have to work today, well I hope you enjoy your evening. I'm watching the tour as we speak. I just love being so connected if I can't be there in person.

Strasbourg to Holland

That's the race for today and tomorrow. After you guys commented that you need a new boyfriend to cheer for, I knew who the new man could be.

It's George Hincappie of course. He's a great rider, has lots of experience and he's leading Team Discovery.

What more do you need?

I'm already up watching the race today, for Stage Two. The race goes through a few new cities which is always cool. It passes through Luxembourg and tomorrow ends up somewhere near the border of the Netherlands where I've ridden before. So once again, it's got some special meaning to me. I always love biking the back roads of Europe because there are very few cars.

The photo for today I took on Saturday down at Lonsdale Key. It's of 3 starfish gleaming in the water. I loved the distortion.

Vive Le Tour

Well cycling fans, it's Le Tour time. Le tour de France to be exact. It's that much anticipated time of the year that I'm glued to OLN watching the race. I'm not sure why I'm so drawn to it but maybe I have some ideas why.

I know there are a few fans out there too. Hexe actually planned to be there watching the race since they happened to be staying in the area.

Yesterday marked the prologue which was won by Thor Hushovd. George Hincappie who is my personal favorite this year, came in second by 7 tenths of a second. He now has the yellow jersey for the win in stage one's race which took place in Strasbourg today.

I picked this photo because it has a bit of sentimental value to it. It's my bike that I bought in Switzerland. Sure it's not a racing bike but it's the bike that took me throughout much of the rolling hills Switzerland, into France and along into Germany.

The photo was taken in Villeneuve along Lac Leman. You can see the boat in the background. I used to take this ride at least once a week in the summer months, usually getting caught in a t-storm at some point too. That's Montreux in June and July for ya though! Gotta love it...

This photo I took around July 15th as Paris was getting ready for the Tour to finish.

Go Go Go

Personally, I prefer an auto in the sand any day. I took this pic last year when we visited Harrison Hot Springs for their annual and world famous sand castle competition.

The Skoda
Since I never show any pics of my sexy husband, here's one of him with our all wheel drive rental car last year while vacationing in can you guess where?

You know I could have posted a few others because I just had way too many pics to choose from but I rather like these one for sentimental reasons.

Happy 1st to all those Canadians and Happy 4th to all those in the US.
